Background on Settlement

By now you should be aware of the class action settlement in Zaloudek, et al., v. Haseko Homes, Inc., et al. regarding shot pins installed during the construction of certain homes. The Court appointed SageWater to serve as the contractor to make the Court-approved repairs of 950 qualifying Hoakalei homes at no cost to those owners. If you own a Hoakalei home with shot pins and that qualifies for the Shot Pin Repair Program, you are automatically entitled to the repairs under this settlement.

Background on the settlement

This class action settlement resulted from alleged defects in the shot pins installed during construction of Hoakalei homes. Certain homeowners in the Zaloudek v. Haseko Class Settlement are entitled to repairs at no cost to them.

The claims about the shot pins

Shot pins are powder actuated fasteners used to secure homes to concrete foundations. The class action claimed that shot pins used in construction of Hoakalei homes were and are rusting, which may weaken their ability to perform as intended. The class action claimed that repairing and replacing shot pins will improve the structural integrity and safety of your home.

The process for installing new anchor bolts

The Court selected SageWater as the single vendor to complete the repairs under the Hoakalei Homes Class Action Settlement. We will be handling the entire process, from scheduling and notifying homeowners and residents about when the work will be completed, to performing the repairs, and ensuring proper permits, inspections, and homeowner approvals are all completed in a timely manner.

Claiming your benefits

Qualifying Hoakalei Homeowners are entitled to these repairs at no cost. There’s nothing required for qualifying Hoakalei Homeowners to claim their benefits. All they have to do is simply register to begin their repair process and make their homes available on the dates scheduled for repairs.
